Common questions
Is zero-knowledge encryption really on the free plan?
Yes. Your master key is derived from your passphrase in the browser using Argon2id and never sent to our server. All data is encrypted with XChaCha20-Poly1305 before upload. This applies identically to free users.
What happens to my data after 90 days on the free plan?
If you don't log in for 90 days, we send warning emails at day 75 and day 88. On day 90, your encrypted data is deleted. Upgrading to a paid plan removes the inactivity limit entirely.
Can I import from Workday, BambooHR, or other HRIS?
Yes. CSV import works with any HRIS that exports to CSV. We auto-detect common header names and let you map the rest. Your mapping is saved — monthly re-imports are one click.
What’s "collaborative editing" on Team?
One user can edit at a time. Other users see a live read-only view with a notice showing who is editing. No data conflicts, no overwrites. Team members only see the charts you want them to.
What is scenario modelling?
Scenarios let you model a restructure without touching your live chart. You can compare the baseline and scenario side-by-side with colour-coded diffs, see affected headcount, and calculate redundancy and salary impact.
Can I self-host OrgChartBuilder?
Yes, on the Company plan. You deploy on your own VPS or on-prem infrastructure using Docker. SSO / SAML and Microsoft Entra ID import are included. Contact us to discuss your setup.
Do share links expire?
Share links remain active until you revoke them. The decryption key lives in the URL fragment — it never reaches our servers — so revoking access means simply deleting the link from your dashboard.
Is there a trial for Pro or Team?
No — we don't offer a trial at this time. The Free plan is comprehensive enough to give you a taste of what to expect.
Large organisation or specific compliance requirements?
The Company plan supports self-hosting, SSO / SAML, Microsoft Entra ID import, and an approval workflow for org changes. Up to 50,000 employees.
